Part 5 on a series about our road trip from California to Ohio, and back again, visiting 15 National – Parks, Recreation Areas, Forests, and Monuments. 7 reviewed, 8 to go.
Day 5 – We were up early on day 5 and headed over to Starbucks for a little caffeine and some muffins. After filling up everyone loaded into the car and we were off again. It was May 13th, so a Happy Mothers Day was the order of the day!
Today we planned on going to Dinosaur National Monument then do a drive-by of Flaming Gorge to snap a few photo’s.
Dinosaur NM is a really fascinating place to visit. I never even knew this place existed until we made our visit. We arrived mid afternoon so we decided to stop at one of the picnic areas located beside the Green River to get a rest from the day’s drive and enjoy the sights. Absolutely beautiful setting. It seems we would always find GREAT spots to stop all along our journey and this day was no exception.

I believe we were the last to leave this monument, really, the last – they were closing for the day. We all piled back in the car and headed for Rock Springs Wyoming, which is where we decided to spend the night.
On our way to Rock Springs we passed by Flaming Gorge and since it was so late in the day we decided to stop at one of the vista points and take a few photo’s. As you can see, simply beautiful, even from the road.

Our next blog will highlight two of America’s greatest National Parks – Grand Teton’s and Yellowstone. I’m really excited to show some of the photo’s from these next two locations!
Hope you enjoy…
