Liberty traveled to Freedom High School to compete in a regular season cross country meet.
I was able to take shots of the Junior Varsity and Varsity in this particular match. Weather couldn’t have been better, with temps in the high 60’s (Fahrenheit) with a light breeze and blue skies. The course at Freedom HS is relatively flat with only a few short rises and downward slopes.
The start of the race was in a grassy area which takes off across a field and up a slope to the sidewalk and then continues on concrete or asphalt for most of the race until the end which comes back across the grassy field. I did see a buzzard flying high above during the race but since I had already shot one in another event (with the camera of course), I elected to pass on shooting this one. I did, however, get a good shot of the afternoon moon which I’ve included in the photo’s.
Camera note – Last week I shot with my Canon 70-200mm f2.8 lens plus the 2x extender and did not feel the images were as sharp as normal. This week I did not use the extender and believe the shots were crisper. Your thoughts?

Hope you enjoy…
Looks like a beautiful day for a run, Bill! You caught their determination perfectly.
It’s interesting as you look at the athletes faces on the first turn in contrast to the last turn. They put a lot of energy into each race. Good observation, thanks for your feedback. bill
Great photos. Our kids used to run cross country and I can attest to the amount of energy expended in each race!
I’m betting your kids enjoyed the time they spent in cross country and look back on it with appreciation. Thanks for your feedback Angeline. bill
