Hawaii is one of those places you can always write about and have fun doing it. Once you make the decision that you’re going, you must then decide which island or islands to visit. In our case, we had already been to Maui so we could at least scratch this one of our list. After a lot of review and consideration we selected Kauai, mostly because we were looking for something quite and peaceful, but exciting. I know what you’re thinking, the big island can give us what we’re looking for, but we really wanted to stay away from the big crowds.
Upon landing at Kauai airport we knew we had made a good decision. No big crowds, not a lot of traffic, and our hotel (Kauai Marriott Resort) was just a short distance from the airport in Lihue, (and not in the flight pattern).
While on the island we did some hiking in the Wailua Canyon State Park also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, (very invigorating). We kayaked up the Wailua River about 2 miles and from there hiked to the Secret Falls a.k.a. Uluwehi Waterfalls. (very refreshing). We went on a sunset ocean cruise up the Napali Coast, (very romantic). And we took time to get in some golf at Poipu and Princeville, (very relaxing).
Pick this island if you really want to see some gorgeous scenery, get in some outdoor activities, and be able to kick back and relax. I hope the photo’s we’ve included give you a good idea of what we enjoyed while visiting Kauai.
